Meet Dr. Kathy Schiefer

Dear Lincoln Elementary Families,

My name is Dr. Kathy Schiefer, and I'm incredibly honored to serve as the Principal of Lincoln Elementary School. With over 20 years of experience in teaching and instructional leadership in the Gettysburg Area School District—and as a proud Gettysburg native—I am passionate about supporting and strengthening the Gettysburg community. I also am dedicated to building a positive school culture where every student feels supported, challenged, and inspired to succeed.

I truly believe in the power of relationships and collaboration, and remain committed to fostering a school community that lives out the Warrior Way: Be Here, Be Involved, Be Committed, Be Kind. I value working alongside staff, students, and families to create engaging learning experiences and ensure that all children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

My connection to Lincoln Elementary is especially meaningful as I once walked its halls when the building served as the high school, with my father, who was the school’s librarian—a family tie that makes my role even more special.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Alvernia University, a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Literacy from Wilkes University, and a Doctorate in Education in 2018—all while raising two young children, a testament to my dedication, perseverance, and belief in lifelong learning.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family—my husband, two sons, and our gray Lab named Piper.  In my spare time, I also love running, hiking, traveling, and any sport. I am so excited to begin this journey with the Lincoln community and look forward to celebrating the successes and growth of every student. This year, I am especially focused on celebrating the little wins that will add up to make a big impact on the future of Lincoln’s students.

Sincerely,
Dr. Kathy Schiefer
