CALL TO ORDER
APPROVAL OF 12/4/25 MINUTES: copies present for attendees, no questions, approved
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
· Flags are up
· School wide “clap out” 1/9 for Sharon Martin’s last day
· New program: Girls on the Run – open for 3rd-5th grade girls for physical and mental wellbeing, cost associated but scholarships available, meeting M/W, hope for 15-30 girls, flyer to be posted
TREASURER’S REPORT
· December ending balance: $36, 578.67
· Total expenses $1,280.03 (insurance, school donation, Butter Braid payment), total income 260.58 (Butter Braid, school donation)
OLD BUSINESS:
· Artist in Residence – preliminary discussion with special teachers regarding amount of work and with planned retirement would need to seek other teacher/parent interest and organization
· Assemblies – Discussion regarding 2 magicians that were recommended, interest remains but tabled until more information regarding shows provided. Additional discussion on opportunity for Earth Day event with saplings and possible RIF.
· Collaboration with other PTOs – Discussion with Franklin Township regarding BMX show. Price remained high even with discount for multiple entities booking. Estimated $2,000 to $2,500. All supportive of passing at this time but continue to investigate other opportunities. Also reaching out to other PTO’s regarding RIF nights.
· School supplies/playground need – discussion regarding purchase of outdoor trunk with lock to be filled with outdoor playground equipment for all grades. PTO to buy not exceeding $1,000. Motion made and approved by those present. GAGA pit to be discussed with facilities as future opportunity.
NEW BUSINESS
· Community events:
o Social – February: discussion with committee lead including PTO providing DJ, budget for supplies and food $500, attending to be Lincoln students and 1 Chaperone. Information to be distributed by 1/20. Need for physical tickets this year to decrease at door/night of backlog. Discuss ways to pay electronically
o Change Wars – March, Danielle to lead. Update to be provided next meeting
o Variety Show – 5/1/26, committee member present discussing ideas and prelim planning
o Chalk the Walk – late May?
· Teacher CPR – Danielle requesting purchase of CPR material by PTO to assist in providing classes to teachers, admin and support staff. Projected cost of $26, those present agreed
· Teacher appreciation – 5/4-5/8, Wicked Theme, motion made to increase budget to $1500 by Dana and seconded by Ashlee, passed unanimously
· Next conferences 2/13
· Parent’s night out – Gettysburg best requesting change in date. Dates discussed and no conflicts. New date to be 3/21/26
· Fundraising
o Gertrude hawk: sell 2/9-2/23, pick up3/23

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT – updates provided by email and listed with activities below
TREASURER’S REPORT- January ending balance: $36,452.43; Total expenses $300 (3 teacher reimbursement), total income $173.76 (Boxtops, bank interest)
ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS
- Bank account signer – due to retirement of Sharon Martin, new signer needs added. Discussion/voting to remove Sharon Martin from the account and add Megan Hudson
- Secretary position – resignation of Elizabeth Mulewich left vacancy. Position was posted on social media. Dana Whalen expressed interest. Nomination was made by Ashlee Hawkins, seconded by Sherri Robinson. Dana Whalen unanimously approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
- School supply/playground items – researched items to purchase including trunk, lock and playground toys/ball; will purchase when weather appropriate; not to exceed $1000 as approved January meeting
- Community events:
- Social 2/20/26 –Givebutter for tix sales up and running. Announced on school newsletter and peach jar. Additional publicity needed. Danielle to ask to send out email to parents as well as email to teachers to post on See Saw. Snacks to include popcorn and snowcones, Volunteers needed. Discussion on logistics/set up
- Change Wars – competition amongst grades; change will be weighted for winner; theme pie in the face. Each grade to pick person to pie. Name randomly picked to complete. Danielle to email to see who is willing to participate.
- Teacher appreciation – Addition of coffee cart for 1 day. Ashlee to investigated costArtist in Residence – staff polled by Dr. Scheifer and response was positive. She is unsure who or what company, but she continues to investigate. This would be a program for next school year.
- Magician assembly – Dates provided: 3/27, 4/1, 5/22
- Earth Day RIF event: unable to do saplings due to delivery in 2 week window, Danielle emailed James Gettys PTO for information on where to get books. Mrs. Henderson did not suggest Scholastic as very expensive. Will continue to look for book seller as well as event activity (wildflowers, presentation on recycling?)
NEW BUSINESS
- Community events:
- Variety Show – 5/1/26, committee members continue discussing ideas and prelim planning; budget approved of $500
- Chalk the Walk – late May?
- Next conferences 2/13 – pizza for teacher
- 5th grade farewell – request made to assist with the event. Total cost estimated at $750. Discussion with those present. Agreed to assist with cost. Additional investigation into other opportunities for other grades and/or tshirt purchase.

- February ending balance $49,628.76 - Total income: $5793.45 (Gertrude Hawk money, dance tickets cash/checks, interest) - Total expenses: $1616.12 (teacher reimbursement, DJ, glow party supplies, pizza for conferences, CPR books)
- Discussed keeping all three fundraisers (Joe Corbis, Butter Braids, and Gertrude Hawk) Or change and do one big fundraiser for next year? Will re visit these ideas at the next meeting.
ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS
OLD BUSINESS
- Discussed pros/cons of the Glow Party; Pros: Students enjoyed the event, popular theme; Cons: Music too loud, texting song requests, snow cones caused sticky messes, encourage more parent engagement with their child at the event, cell phone use issues; Possible Resolutions: Possible change to separate grade level events, K-2 event in the fall, and 3-5 VIP and ME social in the winter, Students will request songs prior to event and request list is provided to the DJ, no cell phone policy, bathroom monitors.
NEW BUSINESS
-Fine arts night - March 26, 2026; carnations to be sold; Laura to purchase; Danielle to sell; to be announced on parent communication tools
-Change wars - March 23 - 27, 2026; 10 staff members volunteered for event; Include link to give butter in addition to collecting money at school for change war donations; Jars will be displayed at Fine Arts night - March 26, 2026; Reward on April 1, 2026
- Magician Presentation- Possible date April 1, 2026
- Teacher Appreciation - May 4 - 8, 2026; Coffee Cart a go; discuss with Sherri a time and date
- Variety Show: May 14, 2026 Time TBD; School will send text with QR code linked to sign up sheet via blackboard to gauge interest; Dress Rehearsal date TBD
- 5th grade farewell breakfast previously approved. Discussed how to support other grade levels. Ideas Include:
- T-shirts for 1-5
- 3rd grade embryology incubators

TREASURER’S REPORT
- March ending balance $40,750.51
- Total income: $4,416.62 (Carnation Sales, Change, Hershey Park, Bank Interest)
- Total expenses: $4,294.87 (teacher reimbursement, Magician, Carnations, Playground deck box)
- Not all teachers have benefited from teacher reimbursement yet
ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS
OLD BUSINESS/EVENT REVIEW
- Discussed carnation sales at fine arts night. This was successful; everyone agreed to continue with this for future events.
-Magician was a success. Students enjoyed this reward.
-Pie in the face - students enjoyed this as a reward; details need adjusting; possibly do this outside in the future to minimize cleanup indoors.
-Get dates on the calendar at the next meeting in May for events next year. (earth day, variety show, chalk the walk, fundraisers, concerts, fine arts night ). Try to get more parental interest and have specific committees to run each event.
NEW BUSINESS
-Variety Show will take place next year - will discuss at next meeting and try to get a tentative date on the calendar
-April 16, 2026 5-7pm - Chalk the Walk - the Lucky Truck and Ziggys will be attending; clothing donations will be accepted at the event; 50/50 will be taking place through the Gettysburg Education Foundation
- Teacher Appreciation - May 4-8, 2026 - Daily details discussed
- How can the PTO give back to students by the end of the school year? How can the PTO support summer reading?
- Third grade incubators were purchased - $119
- Discussed the outdoor learning space. We will be moving forward with this in the future. Will start with more immediate items that are useful and can eventually be integrated into the space (example - picnic tables)
-Discussed possibility of additional swings in for the playground
- Donation match for change wars will go to SPCA

- Thank you to those attending and to those who have come to participate and volunteer at our recent events.
- PTO closet: cleaned and purged at end of school year. Items remaining include 1 ½ water, cutlery/plates/napkins/cups, popcorn

- 2 slices/person ordered=27 lg pizzas, plenty left over, will decrease next year
- 2 pre signed up to volunteer (Laura and Mrs. Jones), additional help night of event included: Dr. Schiefer and Ashley Hawkins handing out pizza and 50/50 table help to include: Jen Baney, Liz Tully, Annie Frazee, Holly Taylor, and Todd and Michelle Orner
- $252 return for PTO on 50/50, $18 donations
NEW BUSINESS
- Ice machine – discussion by those present, some teachers use and some don’t, motion made to purchase ice machine not exceeding $300 by Mrs. Jones, seconded by Laura
- Flag – Dr. Schiefer requesting purchase of teacher name flags to hang in the halls, black with teachers’ names and grade along with Warrior logo, price to include hardware/supplies for hanging and flags for all staff plus additional for future changes = $415.28. If changes to price wouldn’t expect to exceed $500. Motion made by Dana, second by Laura

- Annual giving campaign – total $145, 4 supporters gave during or after football night, QR code to be displayed at events and included as option instead of purchasing items
- School give back project – assist with purchasing/funding outdoor learning space with use of funds budgeted for last years field trip. Dr. Schiefer investigating and exploring. Unanimous support as discussed with teachers at staff meeting.
- Open discussion: Mrs. Sneeringer reporting on Title 1 nights and how we could possibly collaborate for assistance for book give aways, RIF nights

· Teacher flags - $40 over budget, voted/second, approved to pay difference (budget at $500)
· Teacher reimbursement - increasing teacher reimbursements to $200 per year, with $100 available for those who already received the initial amount, voted/second, approved, Dr. Schiefer to remind teachers, deadline 5/15
